Why Greenland?

Greenland - The center of a changing Arctic

Due to the unique location on the North American continent amidst the Arctic Ocean north east of Canada, Greenland is rich in precious resources such as minerals, water, fish and last but not least, a vast amount of ice.

However, the melting ice caps, and the opening of shipping routes, are drawing new attention to Greenland, bringing investments in infrastructure and telecommunications networks.

As an open market economy, Greenland seeks new partnerships with any country, organization, and commercial partner who abides by our laws and engages to the benefit of the people of Greenland.

Although Greenland is largely dependent on natural resources, Greenland no longer rely solely on the export of fish.

It is a broadly shared vision in Greenland that minerals will constitute a significant part of the future economy, including mining of rare earth elements, that are vital for the green transition.

Greenland will also see a growing tourism industry, as the new airports being built in Nuuk, Ilulissat, and Qaqortoq will make the country more accessible to foreign visitors. International partners can also utilize the vast hydropower resources and unique climate in Greenland for server farms, or as input to Power-to-X processes, making green energy an export commodity.

The Government of Greenland is open to investments and to establish new partnerships. Across private and public boundaries, across sectors and across borders, the Government of Greenland is ready to develop new arctic investments, and partnerships.

What happens in Greenland today will affect the world tomorrow. Be a part of the changing Arctic.
