Tourism

Today, tourism plays a larger role in the Greenlandic society. In the recent years, Greenland has developed from a globally unknown tourist destination to being listed as one of the most important and interesting destinations in a variety of well-known online and print media.

As a result, Greenland has seen a growth in the number of tourist overnight stays, as tourists from all over the world want to experience the raw and untouched nature in Greenland.

With the construction of the new international runways and airports in Ilulissat, Nuuk as well as the regional runway in Qaqortoq, the foundation has been strengthened for increased tourism in Greenland.

For now, tourists enter Greenland by international flights into Ilulissat, Kangerlussuaq, Nuuk, Narsarsuaq, Kulusuk and Nerlerit Inaat near Ittoqqortoormiit or by cruise ships. Inside Greenland, travelling usually means a combination of flight and ship.

The Greenlandic tourism development is based on a sustainability approach in order for tourism to help contribute to a positive development of our society, both for tourists and the local population, through economic growth, employment and more experience opportunities.

Investment opportunities in this sector entail hotels, accommodation, camps, and local partners.
